Week Notes 2026-15
Last week I missed seeing the launch of Artemis II, so I made sure to watch the splash down. I hadn't tuned in to most of the live coverage of the mission but on Friday I was hooked. It was so very cool to watch the images we were getting from space and I took some screen caps of the view from the service module as they approached Earth.
Even though not much of anything happened after splashdown we were glued to the stream as they worked to get the inflatable collar and "front porch" attached to Orion. Can't wait for the next mission. My only regret: I didn't get to see the separation of Orion from the service module. I was in between places when it happened (I also assumed that it wasn't technically possible to show it).
My week was mostly filled with 3 hour commutes (1.5h each way) so I didn't get up to much creating. I listened to a bunch of podcasts and listened to some more chapters of Low Red Moon, and was able to finish Raise the Titanic!1 Good week.
2026 projects and goals
Last week's goals
- Keep trying to reduce cold symptoms Happy to report that my cold - or whatever it was - didn't last beyond the weekend. Maybe I've got some leaky nose happening but I consider myself fully recovered.
- Calorie tracking! I need to come to grips with the fact that when I'm away from home, I'm not going to be consistent with calorie logging. I'll do my best but when I don't have as much control of my intake as I'd like, consistency goes by the wayside. It's something I have to accept.
- Keep moving - don't be lazy about steps I didn't hit my daily target (7000) every day last week but I stayed busy and active.
This week's goals
- re-establish healthy habits: floss & brush at night; calorie logging (+ make serious attempt to stay below target); keep hitting step target
- Fun goal! Play a little bit of Star Wars Outlaws (probably Wednesday)
- Writing: game review (Yoshi's Island)
- Hobby: assemble new LEGO knock-off set (& record progress)

The book wasn't the greatest but it was pulpy entertainment. Now I want to see the film - especially since I just learned tonight that Alec Guinness was in it (though not in a big role based on his character name), and it's available in full on YouTube. I'm sure it's delightfully bad.↩
