Hitting my weight goal
I took a bit of a hiatus from tracking my fitness for a couple of weeks since my health reset ended. I'd been going hard for 75 days, and I needed a break. For all intents and purposes, I've been in maintenance mode.
And I've done well! My scale weight has crept up (attributable to some salty foods) but is staying within tolerance for my sanity. My weight tracking app doesn't think so, or at least it didn't until I changed the number of days it smooths out the results (from 7 to 14). It was showing my weight trending up, but now at least it's showing it's trending down, albeit slowly.
I thought about it for a little bit and was trying to think of some sort of "challenge" to hit my goal. For a refresher, my goal is 245.0. Here's where I'm at now:
Current scale weight: 248.0 Current trend weight: 246.8 Projected goal date: March 3, 2026
This time I'm not going to use any gimmicks to do it; the plan is to just do my best to stay within my daily calorie limit. I'm forgiving, so I will be fine if I'm within my weekly limit too. I'll have to be diligent and keep track of things more closely.
To that end I began tracking again yesterday. I ended up over by about 23 calories. Slap my wrist! I've continued today and I intend to have all my entries checked off in Cronometer for 30 days straight (and beyond, I mean I'm not going to stop at 30 days).
The only rules I'm going with is that there are no rules. Kidding. I'm going to continue to track the exercise calories logged by my watch, as I've found it to be pretty accurate and not overestimating things. A 10-15 minute walk clocking in at 90 calories seems right to me. That's not really enough to push me into such an unrealistic range that I'll eat back too many calories.
However I will not be logging any softball or gym time. Even being conservative and logging 30 minutes of ball (our games are 1.5 hours) seems to be an overestimate. I'd use my watch and track our personal training sessions as "other workout" but I don't think that properly captures the weight training that we're doing. Plus that is more likely to get me to eat more than I'm truly burning.
So that's it. I'm starting the clock as of Monday September 15, so 30 days would be...October 15th I guess? Wish me luck.
