Zines? Zines.
Don't read the meta_description for this one if you're not a fan of mixed metaphors.
I had a short conversation with veronique on Mastodon yesterday: https://mstdn.ca/@mabel/111738315369358244
She expanded on it a little bit in her own blog post; but I keyed in on the zine - it made me think about creating a zine (again). But this exchange in particular - I misunderstood the nature of the zine she was reading. I thought it was what I usually expect of a zine: about a specific topic. I thought the idea of committing to a single topic / niche / what-have-you would be intimidating and I'd flake out.
But the zine in question - The Desert Sun - is apparently more "akin to blogging" (in vmb's words). So of course the wheels in my mind started spinning and made me think along the lines of "Oh, I can create a zine!" As if I have the time to do that.
Anyway the idea is appealing, and is in line with my desire to diversify my creative output, but I think I need to concentrate on finishing existing projects. I have a podcast series I started late last year, and an essay collection I want to finish. And I have puzzles and a model. Lots on the go. Who has time for a zine?
(I suppose I could argue that some of these things are fodder for zine content, but I would still need to research into making zines, distributing them, etc. etc.)
