Weeknotes 2026-02

Weeknotes 2026-02

The second week of the year was also the first week back to the office for me. It's a quiet time of year, so I'm trying to pace myself to avoid working too far ahead; so I have to remember that I can work on other things I don't have time for when it's busy.

I did a lot of reading this week, making my way through several different books, and of course being annoyed at work that my Kobo battery died without my knowing. I looked into it and it could be related to the automatic wake/sleep with the Kobo cover. I turned that off, so we'll see if it works to keep my battery protected while I'm not reading. If it's in sleep mode it shouldn't be using any battery power, right?

We capped off the week with a slow weekend, getting things done but still relaxing. It's so great to catch up on sleep after waking up early 5 days straight. We re-watched Fellowship of the Ring in preparation for watching The Two Towers in Concert next weekend. Looking forward to that one.

I also got to play some more Star Wars Outlaws last night, completing some main story missions without needing much in the way of walkthroughs. Note to self: remember to read the subtitles when characters are speaking in "Huttese" and you're moving your character around. I missed a bunch of dialogue at the end of one of my missions because I wasn't reading them. Woops.

Another woops: I forgot the 50-50 ticket we bought at the Ottawa Blackbears game (box lacrosse is fun!) in my jeans pocket and sent it through the wash. This is one contest I hope to lose. I recovered it but not sure I've got the right numbers, nor a useable barcode. I probably couldn't claim it if I won.

2026 projects and goals

I think this will be a good space to keep myself accountable for the things I want to do this year.

Health: I set up my goals for the year (mostly long-term, lowering my cholesterol) and logged food every day of the week. Some was estimations, but there's no way around that sometimes. This week was a base line week, as is the coming week. I'll adjust diet next week.

Podcasts: I didn't do anything here. Didn't do any brainstorming either. Just didn't make it a priority.

Photo blog: No posts this week. However I uploaded my photos from the holidays to my portable drive & OneDrive, so maybe this week I'll have a look and put something together.

Other things

Shared Links on Raindrop This is inspired by Jedda's post rolloff, removing a link from my bookmark list as I add new ones. It's a way to rediscover what I found and share them all over again.
