Week notes 2026-42
With week 42 complete, it's time for me to remind everyone that there are now 9 weeks left in 2026. Do you have a project you wanted to finish this year? Time to get moving (he says with many incomplete projects).
I had something to say about resolutions and how they're meaningless (before diving into how it's just January 1st as a day to start being meaningless, and if there's something you want to change in your life, start now) but I can't remember what prompted it. It came to mind while I was walking my dog, and I neglected to write it down.
Happenings
- More travel. Made a quick weekend trip to see my wife. We'll be back together this weekend for a much longer period.
- Made a lot of progress with things around the house. My to-do list is shorter but there are still things to be done
- the last window air conditioner needs to come out — and the weather is perfect for it
- The 2026 softball season finished with 2 innings played in pouring rain. The city closed the diamonds on Thursday, so there was no opportunity to postpone the games. But hey, we were up 8-2 after 2 innings, I think that means we won.
Misc things
- Music library tinkering continues. I added MusicBrainz Picard to the mix as I try to get proper album artwork & fix tags. Deleted library items up to "N"
- as a result, listening to more albums. Fun!
- Re-discovered the Indie / Rock Playlist. Used to download this as a torrent 20 years ago. Now available via streaming services.
- Been watching X-Files more often than anything else lately. Season 3 has been really good.
- Have done a few side quests in Star Wars Outlaws but playing more sports titles again. Just don't want SWO to become stale
