Week notes 2026-36
We started the week back at my in-laws; my mother-in-law fractured her shoulder and needed support in addition to already needing to support my father-in-law. Unfortunately, because we could not stay with them this week, we had to admit my father-in-law to the hospital; he handled it OK until he was actually IN the hospital. At least it's temporary.
We plan on further trips in the next few weeks, eventually making it a full transition when my wife transfers her pregnancy care so we can be there to support her parents in October. This also gives us limited time to prepare our own house for the baby, but I suppose it's one step at a time!
Happenings
- We arranged for a photo shoot to go with a social media announcement. We "officially" shared the news, so now it's out of our control. I'm connected to some co-workers on Facebook so I was curious to know how far around the office the news travelled (as of writing, not far at allβno one has mentioned it to me).
- My sister-in-law cooked some burgers at the family property and it was a perfect night. I went to take pictures of the marigolds and ended up getting some great shots of bees. They will be the subject of my next photo blog post.
- π¨βπ» My wife bought me a tin full of tech for tinkering from a yard sale. A lot of it was destined for recycling but I found a decent pair of wireless earbuds that I'm going to fix

- I replied to Gobino's post about mobile photography
- Did some more drawing in my mini zine; I don't think I mentioned this but I folded a blank letter-sized sheet into a mini-zine to try some drawing techniques. When it's "finished" I'll share.

- YouTube gave me a great recommendation: Darrell Fitch, a retired firefighter. He's a big notebook user and I want to start carrying around a small notebook in my pocket.

- π± Transforming my old Samsung Galaxy S9+ into a dedicated media device. I disabled a bunch of pre-installed Samsung apps, signed out of my Samsung account, and disabled pre-installed Microsoft apps. I installed Poweramp - it's a GREAT app, and I think I might purchase it. As a free app, it's great. The idea is to use it with my stereo at home. Will it replace my iPod Touch? I dunno. It has potential but on-the-go it's a bit big (same size as my Galaxy S21+).
