Week Notes 2026-05

This week was great! Almost every night of the week my wife and I were either catching up on our regular TV shows, or else watching a Scotties match. I found I was more invested in the teams I know nothing about simply because the games were really good. Unfortunately, while overall the week was great, my wife had a cold and it really knocked her out. We had to skip our gym session on Friday but I think it was a good idea.

Late in the week my smart watch detected my typing as "swimming"; turns out that's a sign of my motion sensor starting to fail. I've got a post waiting to go about it but the short version is I upgraded my smart watch on the weekend. I'm really happy with my choice! More on that later.

We capped off the week Sunday by watching a captivating Scotties final (which ended up being the lowest-scoring championship game in Scotties history) while simultaneously booking our overdue honeymoon trip to Prince Edward Island. That's done, and today I submitted my work vacation request...next step is planning what we're going to do while we're there.

2026 projects and goals

This was the first week of my diet adjustment, which consisted mainly of daily overnight oats and a chickpea salad that I was doling out every day of the week. It went okay - the oats were overwhelmingly great (though 3/4 cup milk is too much milk in terms of consistency for me), and the chickpea salad was just okay. It was filling, and tasted fine, but I didn't want to continue that for this week.

As far as scale weight goes, the results have been great. I started the week at 247.1 and ended the week on the same note. But at one point I got down to 245.6! But now Libra1 is showing it expects me to hit 245 pounds (my short-term goal) by the end of February. I was over my daily calories and over my saturated fat totals on many days but I think my activity level overall outweighed (pardon the pun) the calories consumed.

I'll do a closer review this week, I think.

Otherwise no other progress on my other 2026 projects. That's okay, it was a good week.
