Thursday thoughts 06

I have a few things on my mind that I need to unload, so it's time for a 6th edition of Thursday Thoughts.

Last night's sleep was rough. One of my goals this week is to get better sleep, but also to review the previous night's sleep to get some meaningful data to back up how I feel when I wake up.

I think I would have been okay, except that after 4am I woke up feeling hot all over and with a massive headache. I couldn't get comfortable for a long time, and briefly felt that I was going to throw up. I took a Tylenol & Gravol, and eventually I got cold again and bundled under the covers and fell asleep. I'm not sure when, exactly, but the fact that I was cold and able to get under the blankets again was a good sign.

When I woke up and started getting ready to go into the office, I realized that I was still unfit to travel anywhere so I decided to work from home and get some more sleep.

I'm still tired but at least I am functional and not potentially in a car accident due to decreased mental capacity.

Oh, and I intended to bike to work today but when I wrote that earlier this week, I forgot that I have an early gym session tonight and needed to leave work early. That would mean setting aside an hour rather than the 20 minutes it takes me to drive. Next week.

I had a realization this morning: in all my thoughts/hopes/desires to write a weekly "thing" (be it a newsletter, blog post, etc.) I have been subconsciously modelling that potential project on someone else's "thing". No one specifically, just the various styles and different newsletters I read or subscribe to in general.

What I haven't been doing is thinking about creating something I would want to read or listen to; this is usually the guiding principle I stick to when I'm creating something. It's what I strive to do - create something that I would enjoy, and it's likely someone else out there, in the world, will enjoy it too.

Naturally during this epiphany1 I came up with an idea that I will try out as a 6-week trial run to see if I can make it happen on a regular schedule. Stay tuned on this one.

Maybe TMI, but I am so done with being full of mucus despite feeling fully functional and not sick.
