Things I'm Doing
Taking a break from my frustrating stereo that has a fritzy speaker terminal1, I thought I'd write about a few random things.
Keurig Cups
I ruminated this week about a better way to dispose Keurig cups; I didn't hear from anybody so I can only assume that there is no "one trick" that exists to empty them and dispose of them. Darn.
Finding New Blogs
One of the benefits of "No Socials Sunday" (have I written about that?) is that I end up reading more on Sundays. And since starting a blog here on Bear I've found more and more interesting people to follow. It's getting to a point now though where I find a blog, and then I can't remember where I found it, so it's hard to tell people how I got to their site. Let me fix that right now.
This week's People and Blogs entry, Jamie Crisman mentioned a blog he follows called Analog Office and I fell down a rabbit hole the other day. I have lots to still to read but will add to my RSS feeds to read.
Video Games
I recently found a new way to enjoy playing MLB The Show 2016, a game I previously played at random intervals but never consistently. I don't have the same amount of free time that I used to to devote to video games - you know, life responsibilities, waning interest, and all that - so playing several 162-game seasons of baseball can be tedious. I decided to set up a playoff tree. I lost my first one but last night set up a playoff tree featuring the bottom 5 teams of each league. I also adjusted my hitting and pitching settings to be something I'm more familiar with, similar to MVP Baseball. I'm having fun with it.
Cleaning
Cleaning sucks, that's all I'll say. But what's worse is everything that leads to needing to clean - the mess itself. I hate having a mess around the house. It gets under my skin, and yet I continue to procrastinate and do other things. But I got to it today and cleaned up some of my messes and crossed some things off my list. Happy about that.
Bullet Journal Experiments
I always like trying out new ways of organizing my life (which is why I really enjoy that Analog Office blog), and stumbled across this post on /r/BasicBulletJournals. I'm not a fan of creating defined weekly "spreads", but this one seemed interesting. I committed to it for a week for both my personal and work journals. I'm going to keep going with it for my work journal for one more week, but am going to make a slightly modified version for my personal journal for this coming week.
I like having a weekly snapshot of what's to come to flip back to when I start writing something for my day, instead of having to flip back to my calendar. And it's also helpful to kind of expand on what I've entered on my monthly calendar, too. We'll see how it works. But I'm now leaning toward getting a kind of hybrid journal that has pre-printed dates and such but room to write whatever I need. This must exist somewhere.
The repair shop I took it to fixed the cassette deck just fine, but did not do a great job with the speaker terminal. It's as unreliable as it was before I got it "fixed". Wish I knew how to do it myself.↩
