The links are out of control!
Several weeks ago I came across someone's blog post about how they save links (I think it was from one of the "People and Blogs" series by Manuel Moreale). The short version is: they use Notion to create a large database. I tried Notion before but didn't generally find it very useful. I don't work the way most people that use it do, so I set it aside; but when I saw its usefulness as a link aggregator I decided to give it another shot.
Well. It escalated quickly.
I find this link database incredibly useful - but I realize now that I'm turning into a pure link dump. Some of these links I will return to continuously, but some of them I need to prune. Thankfully Notion has different "views" that allow you to look at specific categories (or exclude specific categories) so I can at least filter out things that I saved related to CSS that I'm going to use eventually for my personal website.
I think I'm going to have to do some serious de-cluttering in the new year. I say "in the new year" because I know realistically I'm not going to get to it between now and Jan 1st, and I'm sure as heck not doing it while I'm enjoying my downtime around Christmas. Who wants to spend Christmas and Boxing Day eliminating links from their database?
And I don't even know what I'm using all of these links for, necessarily. I think some of them will naturally clear themselves out - those are the ones where I saved them as I said above, as examples for CSS styling for my website. As I finish the general design of the website I will probably drop some of the "how to use eleventy" stuff too, especially since I recently joined a Discord server where I can get some help from fellow 11ty users.
For now I'm just going to keep clipping links and I'll figure out what to do with them later. A weekly review, perhaps, might be a good start.
