Smartwatch notification set up change
I'm trying to curb my habit of jumping to look at my watch every time a notification comes through, especially now that I changed my watch behaviour to turn off "rise to wake" and only activate when I touch one of the side buttons.
This also coincides with me trying to leave my phone off except for more important messages and phone calls.
Here are the apps that currently send notifications to my watch:
- BenchApp (the app one of our softball teams uses for scheduling etc.)
- Calendar
- Clock (Includes alarms and timers set on phone)
- Gmail
- Google Opinion Rewards
- Instagram (for a short time, my friend's SMS was not working so we messaged via IG but that's fixed now)
- Messenger
- Phone
- Samsung Health
- Telegram
- To Do
- Uber
- Uber Eats
- Wireless emergency alerts
It's already a short list, but there are some I've identified as easily removed:
- Email & Gmail: I usually don't need immediate notifications of new emails
- Google: I think these are just notifications from the google app, which right now are limited to some "pre-game" and "wrap-up" notifications for baseball games; I'm trying to turn these off on my phone (without disabling the Now bar)
- Instagram: My friend's messaging issues are fixed, I don't need IG notifications to my watch
- Uber Eats: I find Uber's notifications handy, but I don't need it from Uber Eats
I'm on the fence about Samsung Health; sometimes I like them, sometimes I don't. However now that I'm cutting my notifications to only the most "urgent", getting these extra notifications might not be helpful.
