Sewing Buttons
When I went to put a pair of pants on yesterday, the button popped off. It was loose when I bought them second-hand, so this was not a surprise. Defeated, I set the button and pants aside to repair another day.
But, I realized, I can't always ask my wife to fix things for me. Sewing a button seems like such a trivial task, I should be able to do it, right? So I went searching on Google after I accomplished everything else I needed or wanted to do, and found an article that articulated the process very well:
https://www.artofmanliness.com/skills/how-to/sewing-on-a-button/
(Forget for a moment that I'm not generally a fan of the website's conceit, they do have helpful articles I've relied upon in the past.)
After a couple of missteps I got going on sewing on the button. It went a lot faster than I thought it would, even with stopping to read the how-to. I can't say how long it took because I didn't time myself, but I'd say maybe ten minutes, max.
I didn't poke myself with the needle while I was seeing, but I clumsily grabbed the pin I was using as a spacer with my finger and drew some blood. Woops.
All in all, an easy process and I think I can remember for next time I need to sew a button.
