I miss podcasting

I miss podcasting.

I used to record and release podcasts on a regular basis, but now my microphone is collecting dust. For three years I co-hosted a show with my brother where we talked about the Toronto Blue Jays & MLB in general, but we decided it was time to end the show after this year (he wants to concentrate more on his music, and is also getting busier on weekends as his kids get older).

But that podcast wasn't something of my own. I first started a music podcast, and then I lost steam on it; then I co-hosted a podcast with my friend about Futurama, but we lost steam because we weren't able to mesh schedules and a whole bunch of other reasons, so it's done. And then my most recent is a book podcast, but I don't really want to continue with that anymore because it feels like I'm turning my reading hobby into a commodity.

I want to get back into the game - I like recording and editing the audio together. Don't get me wrong - I'm loving my latest hobby (photo blogging) but producing audio is a thing I love to do too. I wish I could just hit record and talk about whatever, sort of like writing this blog. But podcasting isn't quite the same as writing a personal blog. You need at least some sort of focused topic. If I ramble on about random things I might as well just read my blog posts verbatim.

I'm not sure if I'm going to find some bright idea for a podcast or if I'll ever get back into it, but I know one thing:

I miss podcasting.
