NA Beer Review: White Water Brewing Co

For my birthday, one of the gifts my wife bought me was a prepaid $50 credit card. I intended to use this to buy an album for Bandcamp Friday, but it didn't work out that way. Instead I purchased a variety of non-alcoholic beers from a local shop that specializes in selling non-alcoholic drinks(https://knyota.com).

I haven't had the opporunity to try all of them yet, but last weekend I brought two of them to a friend's birthday party. I opted for two cans from a relatively local brewery, White Water Brewing Company(https://whitewaterbeer.ca/).

Farmer's Daughter

A can of Whitewater Brewing Co. Farmer's Daughter Non-Alcoholic Blonde Ale, with a silver top and a label featuring a mountain and river scene, a turtle, and orange and brown colors.

Unlike Broadhead Beer's Blueberry Blonde, I haven't had the alcoholic version of Farmer's Daughter to compare against1. I wonder, is this representative of the alcoholic version? I would love to give a can to someone who has for comparison.

Unfortunately I found this a little bland - nothing special about it. I could just as easily buy a blonde ale from Partake and get the same thing, for a little less money per can. I didn't really like the after-taste; it wasn't terrible, it just wasn't the most pleasant.

Shifting Tides

A can of Whitewater Brewing Co. Shifting Tides Non-Alcoholic Pale Ale. The can is silver with a green and blue design featuring a wave and a mountain. The text "Shifting Tides" is prominently displayed in a green font. The can is 355ml and contains 0% alcohol.

Without looking it up I don't know if there is an alcoholic equivalent to Shifting Tides, but I really enjoyed this one. It has a fruity/citrus flavour, which is one of my favourite types of hops. I remember Alexander Keith's had a "cascade hops" beer for a little bit several years back that I enjoyed and this reminds me of it. I know this is a very vague description but I would say it has a lot of "character" in contrast to Farmer's Daughter. I would definitely drink this one again, and I'd stock up on it.

I have quite a few other drinks from this batch I bought, and my brother gifted me some others from Athletic Brewing, so I will definitely have future reviews.

  1. I love that Broadhead makes a non-alcoholic version of Blueberry Blonde. It's a little on the sweet side, but it was one of my early favourites of local craft brewers so it's nice to have the option every now and then!
