More tech tinkering
Because I can't leave well enough alone I decided to try out a new 11ty project. Normally I would do this from the comfort of my home PC, but I'm away from home on vacation so I thought I would torture myself and start it from my phone.
Let me tell you right now that trying to use GitHub Codespaces from a mobile phone is not a pleasant experience!
Anyway I managed to get a basic site up and running, but it needs some fine tuning that I need to do via computer. I think I could do it from my work laptop (which I have with me, for an emergency) but I'd rather not turn that on and be tempted to check my work emails.
The site I'm building is going to be a listing of my 4K movies. Thinking about it just now, I should probably just make it an extension of my personal website which is already built and running 11ty; but I set myself down this path so I might as well continue. It doubles as a more proper learning experience for styling a website - I would like to try to do most of this without Claude or ChatGPT if I can.
It's also going to replace my physical media catalogue, which is using Obsidian + the Digital Garden plugin. There's no reason not to continue with this, other than the opportunity to tinker. I wanted to make a listing of my 4K disc collection only though, and that library has a bunch of Blu-ray and DVD movies and - well, I want to start from scratch with more ability to customize to my liking.
I'm thinking of doing something like this too for my MLB The Show 24 franchise tracker but one step at a time...
