Microsoft journal
Microsoft gets a lot of negative press - not without merit - but they make good products. Not long ago I compared the usefulness of the Surface Pen vs the Apple Pencil; there's no doubt in my mind that AP is a significantly better product than the SP. There's such deep integration with iPad OS that it's tough to beat. The SP on the other hand works well in some areas, but not all - likely because developers don't put much thought into it for what really is a one device only product.
Yesterday I replaced the battery (AAAA - a size not readily available in most stores) and fired up Microsoft Journal. There's a built-in note that acts as a tutorial for how to use the app, and it functions in the same way the Apple Pencil does in its notes app. It's a pleasant experience to use in the app. If I were still a heavier user of OneNote I think it works well in that app, too.
Don't get me wrong - Apple's product is still superior. But it's nice to have a writing option built into my primary personal Windows computer.
