Losing Weight
This has been on my mind for a little while. I've written a lot about my weight loss attempts in many different places, something that shouldn't surprise anyone who's ever tried to lose weight before; it's something that just stays on your mind and can be as heavy as the pounds you're trying to shed.
I've been successful at weight loss before; I wouldn't be where I am now if I wasn't. I think the first time I lost a significant amount of weight was around 9 or 10 years ago, but it crept back up over time and I had to renew my attempts to lose weight again. I'm about where I was 10 years ago, more or less, and I'm still trying to get further down. It gets harder the older you get, I'm pretty sure.
Anyway, I got an email this morning from Cronometer telling me that my Gold subscription would automatically renew in a couple of weeks. I turned it off, effectively unsubscribing from the "Gold" format. I haven't decided if I want to spend another $50 to use the premium features. I don't even know right now which of those features I'm using anyway. So I think it would be okay to go "free" for a while.
But I'm having trouble sticking with a plan. Even a simple one. All I need to do: eat less, move more. I don't have so much trouble with "move more" - I take my dog for walks several times a day, every day.1 It's the "eat less" part that's not so easy. I'm supposed to stick within my calorie goal but it's so, so easy to move beyond it. Or even give up logging for a day or two, or start logging and then give up because you just don't feel like it.
I'm going to continue to do my best until January, but not focus too much on results so much as the process. Perhaps I'm best to weigh myself weekly instead of daily, for a little bit. Then, come January, I'll be more detailed with a better plan of attack to lose the remaining stubborn pounds.
Some days the walks aren't as long as others, but I feel like the walks I take are base level workouts that are still beneficial - more so than not walking at all.↩
