📺 Watched: Gilmore Girls S1E1 "Pilot" & S1E2 "The Lorelais' First Day at Chilton"
Having watched the series a few times with my wife, it's interesting to note that aside from different sets the characters are mostly fleshed out the way they end up later on in the show. It's not like your usual pilot when the writers are figuring things out as they go. The only thing that really changes is hair styles (Emily's hair changes drastically between the pilot and episode 2).
Some thoughts in general:
- Weird that for the entire run of the series, the opening credits remain the same, using scenes from the pilot and second episode.
- Looking up the episode names for this post, I saw that Adam Nimoy (Leonard Nimoy's son) directed episode 3.
- The use of licensed songs in the pilot seems jarring when the rest of the series is almost exclusively featuring music from either Sam Phillips or Lane's band later on.
