Friday thoughts 07
It's Friday and it's time for some unorganized thoughts.

I started my 75 day health reset 92 days ago, June 19th, 2025. One of my "rules" was to read a little bit of a book every day. It's not that I don't read enough, I felt like I wasn't prioritizing reading in my life at that time. Turns out I was correct; since June 19th I finished 5 books. Before that I only read 3 books between January and April.
I'm currently reading a book "in real time" - the journal entries by one of the characters actually corresponded to when I started reading, so my next chapter to read is tomorrow (Sept 20th). I'll have to pick out another book to read in tandem as I'm sure there will be days I won't have a chapter to read in the other.

The throwing mechanism in MLB The Show 24 when you're controlling a single player is counter-intuitive to me. It's one of those "quick time" systems (I don't know if that's an official term) where you have to line up your right stick to your target to make an error-free throw. And there's another system that involves buttons - I couldn't figure that one out either. You don't get a ton of time to figure it out, so I made at least 3 errors in a game when I was player-locked to my shortstop.
Something I need to practice.

I don't think I mentioned it anywhere on the blog, but: I can do a sled pull of at least 330 pounds. I have a session tonight so we'll see if our trainer adds more. When I first started doing these pulls it was a struggle when we only added two 45 lb plates. Amazing to see the progress.

I've been playing Star Trek Resurgence for a week or so now, after picking up a digital copy for $15. It's a very laid back, casual game. The gameplay is very basic: you're presented with 3 reply options and depending on which one you pick the story might go a different direction; so you can get different versions of the story depending on the options you choose.
I don't know if the differences are subtle or more overt (as in, do you get a small change in the character actions but the end result is the same?), but it's neat to play a Choose Your Own Adventure game. There are physical controls as well - certain actions you have to perform. Button combinations are presented on screen, and you can walk around freely in some situations.
It was fun to take a recording of the bridge of the ship you're on (it's a combo between the TNG & Voyager bridges). The visuals are cool even if the character animations aren't the best out there.

After buying 4 more movies this week, I got the idea to write either a short blog series (here, most likely) or a pop-up newsletter or something; it would be about my physical movie collection. I'm not sure about this and what direction I'd go with it, it's just an idea for now.
