Creative Pursuits
I spent a good chunk of Friday afternoon brainstorming with Gemini1, prompting it for some help generating ideas for monetizing creativity. I need to be clear on this point: I don't mean it in the sense of becoming a content creator, with the goal of turning everything I do and make into an opportunity for dollar signs, or to try to grow my blog to reach hundreds or thousands of people by Following One Simple Trick™.
On the contrary; making money from my creative pursuits is a goal I've always had. Only very recently have I made the choice to pursue creativity for creativity's sake rather than as a means to an end (getting paid).
But inspired by a couple of links sent my way2 my thoughts turned to side or supplemental income, and how I might generate it. I find LLMs helpful for brainstorming3 so I pulled up Gemini on my phone.
I got a few ideas, and came up with at least two. Whether or not they are "monetized" doesn't matter - the ideas themselves, one in particular, energized my creative brain and I'm excited about the prospect of working on them.
For now I'm going to keep those ideas to myself; sometimes it's nice to have an idea to yourself and hold onto it for a while. It's a fun little secret.
We'll see where this goes. I look forward to this next adventure.

The LLMs ask questions to help stimulate your brain, and while they provide some suggestions I find most of the "work" comes from me.↩
