A Strange Confluence of Events

There's been a strange confluence of events in my life lately. It started when my employer announced this week it was offering to pay people some pretty generous packages to leave the company voluntarily. The packages offered are fairly generous - tempting, even. You have to apply to take the package, and not every applicant will necessarily be approved.

I'm not going to apply, and even if I did I don't think my application would be approved. I'm in a position & department that is in the "keep the lights on" territory. What's strange about the announcement isn't that it was a bit out of the blue, but that I was reflecting on the nature of my job and what my next career moves might be; what kind of job is right for me? That kind of thing.

But just today - another development. A non-alcoholic brewing company that I respect (and I enjoy their products) posted a job for an operations manager, and I'd say if there were 10 requirements of the job I'd meet 7 or 8 of them. It's the type of thing that I'd be passionate about in terms of a new job. Almost perfect really.

But do I go down that road? I don't know. But sometimes things kind of fall into place, and you need to pay attention to the signs that are there. I have some things to think about.
